This is something that you would think that would be an easy thing to do. It’s actually one of the hardest and its something that we all have to work on every day. First things first, we need to learn how to be comfortable in our own skin. Every single human on earth is born with a flaw, nobody is perfect, perfect does not exist. We have to accept ourselves for who we are and love the body we are in. Not being happy with yourself dims a light inside of you and follows you around like a plague. Having a happy relationship with yourself is one of the most important relationships you will ever have. Remind yourself every day of something that you are grateful for, make little sticky notes and put them on your mirror. Make a gratitude journal and put an entry in it every day, even if you put that you are grateful for the bed you get to sleep in. The more you write the happier it makes you feel.
Letting go of resentment and control are two huge factors to living a more positive life. What is resentment? according to Wikipedia Resentment is a mixture of disappointment, anger, and fear. It comprises the three basic emotions of disgust, sadness, and surprise—the perception of injustice. A lot of us have this due to past relationships, bad upbringing, and the list goes on and on. Harbouring feelings like this makes us miserable, literally eating us from the inside out. Having anger towards someone is only hurting you not them, I know that sometimes we feel as though if we hold onto the hatred that they may realize that they did something wrong. What if they don’t? When you hate someone you are hoarding the hurt within. You have to learn to let go or you will never feel free. Control is another factor that makes us feel trapped, even though we try to control situations, people, and life to feel more secure we are actually losing freedom. For a moment you may feel more secure when you take control but you actually end up losing yourself and those that you are trying to control. Things don’t always go as planned and most times we end up feeling panic, frustration, and sadness.
I always like to follow the famous saying “you bring about what you think about”. If we are constantly putting negative vibes out there guess what, we are going to have negative things happen to us. I’m sure I am not the only one when I say that I have had those days where you say to yourself “why is this happening to me”. Well, when you actually sit and think about your mood and the vibes you are putting out you will answer your own question. We only have one go at this crazy thing called life, make the best of it. Let go of control, resentment and the self-body shaming and thank god every morning that you get to open your eyes and start a brand new day because not everyone is getting that opportunity.
